Boarding Policies & Procedures

It is important that you read and understand this policy before leaving your pet to board with us. If you have any questions, please feel free to ask us.

PLEASE ALLOW 15 MINUTES TO CHECK IN YOUR PET.

ALL FEES ARE DUE UPON RELEASE OF YOUR PET.

1. All pets boarding at Westbury Animal Hospital must be current on the following vaccinations:

  • DOGS: DHP, Parvo, Rabies, Bordetella, Canine Influenza (H3N8 & H3N2)

  • CATS: FVRCP-P, Rabies

In order to protect the health of your pet and others, we need written proof of current vaccinations for all pets that board at Westbury Animal Hospital. This should be in the form of an itemized receipt with your pet's name and the vaccine listed or medical history from a veterinarian. If written proof is not available, you will need to authorize your veterinarian to release your pet's medical history to us. This information should be provided to us prior to your pet's arrival.

2. All animals staying at Westbury Animal Hospital receive 24-hour nursing care. A veterinary technician is in the hospital at all times, and a doctor is always on call, including weekends and holidays.

3. Every pet admitted for boarding will be examined for fleas and ticks upon check-in. If they are present, we will bathe your pet and/or administer a Capstar at the regular charge. We must make every effort to prevent a flea/tick infestation in our hospital.

4. For the safety of all pets and visitors, all pets are required to be on a leash and under control, or in a carrier in our hospital. Westbury Animal Hospital will provide a carrier for $10.46 or a leash if needed.

5. While boarding, an animal caretaker will trim your pet's nails, express the anal glands and check the eyes, ears, skin, and mouth. This is done at no additional charge. You must decline these services in writing if you wish for these services not to be performed.

6. If your pet requires a special diet, please bring it from home. We will be happy to feed it to your pet. Otherwise, we feed Science Diet Sensitive Stomach pet food.

7. If a health problem is present upon admittance, or if a problem should arise during boarding, a doctor will do a complete physical exam and any fees will be additional.

8. It is important that you leave a telephone number where you can be reached while your pet is boarding with us. If this is not possible, please leave the number of a trusted friend or relative that we can contact should a problem arise.
